Here's My Story
For most of the last 20+ years, I taught people the skills they need to move ahead with their careers. I taught for public and private institutions and worked as a manager in corporate America.
I've always found work to be incredibly rewarding. In fact, I loved to work. I would even say I was a workaholic, so much so that work was often the top priority in my life.
I took my work seriously and enjoyed it. Fifty-hour work weeks and working weekends didn't phase me. I accepted the idea that long hours were part of my job.
Then, I burned out. It was too much, I was miserable.
I was physically and emotionally exhausted and a stressed-out nervous wreck.
I realized I couldn't keep doing what I had been doing. Getting to that mindset was a process, not an overnight decision.
But once I reached that point, I was ready for change.
So I quit my full-time job and started writing and occasionally teaching for the nearby community college.
My primary goal was to live a more fulfilling life. One that was slower and simpler.
I wanted to work fewer hours and lead a less complicated life, so I set about recreating my life.
It took some time - and several challenges along the way - but I finally created a life that works for me.
My Life Today
Today, I'm happier, healthier, and more at peace with myself and my work.
I slowed down, and it changed my life for the better.
